Frenchman’s Bay Playground Project

Frenchman’s Bay Playground Project – Bringing Surfaces Back To Life

Synthetic Grass & Rubber Surfaces was contacted by Randwick City Council to upgrade their Frenchman’s Bay, La Perouse bayside playground. The purpose of this project was to revitalise the area and create a fun and interactive play space for children. Their main goal was to create a playground where the community feels a sense of belonging.

Synthetic Grass & Rubber are constantly looking for ways to reduce waste and recycle where possible. Based on achieving this target they sort to establish a solution to protect the environment through a recycling process. Complying with Australian Standards, Synthetic Grass & Rubber have developed a waste reduction process for old wet pour rubber playgrounds. This process consists of removing the old rubber wet pour from the existing playground and returned to their plant. It is then processed through innovative machinery which granulates the rubber and then coloured as required. This recycled material is then used in the new playground as the base course rubber.

Pacific Urethanes was commissioned by Synthetic Grass & Rubber Surfaces to develop a bonding agent for these rubber particles. Our high-quality binder system UrePac Bond 715 was specifically designed for Synthetic Grass & Rubber to create a resilient and safe surface for the playground which is virtually indestructible.

The Pacific Urethanes polyurethane system was an ideal choice as a binder for recycled particulate. The superior characteristics allow for its use in a wide range of building and construction environments, and anywhere a high-strength, water-resistant binder is required.

The project was completed in August 2020. The locals now have a playground which provides a fun place for children and assists in bringing the community together.
